Anything4aEuro has just completed testing of Parallels Transporter, a utility to migrate real PC disks to Parallels virtual machines. A very simple installation process followed by an intuitive wizard had a 50gb physical hard disk transported via a USB hard disk onto another desktop computer and running as a Parallels image in XXX minutes/hours. What's so great about this? For office users, probably nothing too great but home users and small office users involved in hardware upgrades can take their OLD machine, all the data and applications and run it inside their new machine while gradually installing the new applications and moving the data from the "imaged" environment to the new hard disk. Using Parallels is a great way to ensure your new computer remains stable while testing new applications - test in a virtual environment, especially "shareware" and "freeware" applications and then simply reset the image when finished. Parallels Desktop and Server as well as Parallels Transporter is available from Purple Rage Ltd (http://www.purplerage.com) More about: |
